The Tyrolean State Conservatory is located in the heart of the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck. The Conservatory represents the pinnacle of musical education in Tyrol.
Key Historical Data
1818 Foundation of the “Akademischer Musikverein” (Academic Musical Association)
1912 Inauguration of the Musikvereinsgebäude, which to date still houses the Tyrolean State Conservatory
1934 The School of Music is granted the status of a Conservatory
1945 The City of Innsbruck takes over music education
1987 For administrative reasons, the City of Innsbruck separates the School of Music and the Conservatory
September 1, 1990 The State of Tyrol takes over management of the Conservatory and renames it the “Tiroler Landeskonservatorium” (Tyrolean State Conservatory)
Course Offerings
PROFESSIONAL FIELD OF STUDIES
German language is a prerequisite for studies. All courses are taught in German.
- Diploma Studies (Konzertfach/Performance Studies)
This eight-semester artistic degree study program (Konzertfach/Performance Studies) trains students to become soloists, orchestra and chamber musicians, opera and concert singers, conductors and composers.
- Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy (IGP) – in cooperation with the University Mozarteum Salzburg
Since the winter semester of 2006/2007, this internationally recognized course has been offered in cooperation with the University Mozarteum Salzburg.
The quality of artistic and pedagogical education at the Tyrolean State Conservatory is comparable to a university. The examinations of the professional studies are recognized as equivalent to those of Austrian Universities.

Registration
Degree Study Program, Courses and Preparation
To qualify for a course of study at the Tyrolean State Conservatory, an entrance examination has to be successfully completed.
Registration for entrance exams is open from April 1st to May 15st.
The entrance examination consists of a practical and a theoretical component and takes place during the last week in June.
